Club Summer League
Rules
Match dates: Tuesday 2nd June – Tuesday 14th July. Games will be played at 8pm and 9pm. Ladies games at 7pm – 8pm.
BBQ Presentation:
Friday 17th July, at the club 7.30pm.
A good social occasion before training starts in the Summer.
Rules: normal hockey rules apply, EXCEPT *no balls to be lifted above waist height (so over a stick is ok). No undercut balls allowed or undercut shots at goal, even from short corners. Short corners: any first shot on goal must hit the backboard or be on track to hit the backboard. U16 player to receive at short corner, or next youngest in team. Novice players should have a different colour bib/sash. We are not playing the new free hit rule in the 25. Any players monopolising the ball in any game (ie not passing!!) will be subject to a “3 touch” rule for their next game – Tricia’s decision is final!! !
Starting on time: please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time. It is really important to get organised before the start time. This will maximize the length of each match. Games can then be 25 minutes each way. Matches were sometimes shortened last year because teams were not ready to start. Umpires – please get games started!!
Goalies:Goalies must wear full goalie kit and may play for any team. If you do not have a fully equipped goalie, a nominated player must wear a different coloured bib to their team, and is then not allowed outside the 25 yard area. The nominated player must not kick the ball.
Match fees here is now an upfront “joining fee”. Seniors £22, U18 £14, U16 £12. I will be there to collect fees on the first and second weeks, so please bring your fee then.
Friendly league: the aim is to
the aim is to help integrate older juniors /new players, have fun, and maintain fitness levels. Subs should be rotated regularly to give everyone a game. Winning is not everything in this league. You will not get promoted!! Seniors: help the younger / newer players.
Umpires: will be volunteers who are playing the same evening. Please be courteous to umpires, and set a good example. Any player being discourteous will be umpiring the following week!
Kit, goalies and bibs – Tricia, Grant, Iain and Micky will have a key to the store. If you borrow anything PLEASE return safely.
