Luton U9's at the Nottigham Festival
Luton U9's
National Hockey festival Nottingham
Squad:Robert Shearer,Will Madden,Kieran Whitehall, Jordan Homann,Ruby Preece,Ayse ,Amber Lewsey,Rochelle Lewsey,Chloe Glenister,Charlotte Glenister.
Results:
- Luton 0 Kingston upon Hull 1
- Luton 0 Wycombe 0
- Luton 2 Sheffield Hallum 0 Goals Keiran 1 ,Will 1
- Luton 1 Leek 0 Goals Will 1
Players of the tournament: Robert Shearer, Rochelle Lewsey.
Coaches comments: With the day an emphasis on having fun,A great day was had by all .A slow start for the team With a loss against Hull ,even though we were on top in this game,The team were completely thrown out by the award of a short corner (at u9's) against us which Hull promptly dispatched ,with having no training what so ever on short corners (as this normally comes in at under 11s) An unfair advantage was gained .After this, a quick lesson in short corner attack and defence, this was put right!!!!!
The next game against Wycombe saw Luton complete on top with a few good chances but could not get that winning goal, but a much better performance by the team , we then took on Sheffield with a return to the sort of display that I have been used to they really did dominate this game with some great goals ,Leek then proved a little tougher but we eventually got the goal through Will.
Conclusion: What a great day out it turned out to be with 40 teams playing in this tournament it was very well organised and all parents and children enjoying themselves , I have no dought that our u9s are as good as any other u9 teams throughout the uk and as a coach it has been great to watch them progress , short corners will now have to be added into our training sessions for next season.
